When a holiday falls in your collection week, there is no pickup on the holiday and every remaining day that week shifts forward by 1 day. Friday collection moves to Saturday. Houston observes 13 collection-affecting holidays, which is not the same list as the federal calendar. Checked against the city's own published schedule on August 29, 2026.
