What it is

When's My Trash Day answers one question: which day your trash goes out. It is an independent site. We are not a city, not a waste authority, and not affiliated with either.

Where the data comes from

Every schedule comes from the city's own published data: the GIS route layers cities publish openly, and the collection calendars they put on their websites. We do not estimate, infer from your neighborhood, or fill gaps with guesses.

Holiday rules are checked one city at a time against that city's own calendar, because they differ more than people expect. Some cities move collection later in a holiday week. At least one moves it earlier. Each city page shows the date its rule was last checked.

What we do not know

Coverage is not the same everywhere, and each city page states its own measured figure against that city's own address records. Where an address falls outside the routes a city publishes, the lookup says so rather than guessing at the nearest one. Where a city has no fixed day for a service, because bulk collection is by appointment in several of them, we say that too.

Your address

An address you type is used to find which collection route it falls in, and that is all. It is not stored, not sold, and not used to contact you. There are no accounts and no sign-up.

What we do keep

Two things, and neither is your address. We count visits with Google Analytics, which sets a cookie and tells us how many people arrive and from where. It does not tell us who you are and we do not join it to anything.

If you ask us to tell you when we add your city, we keep the email you gave us and the city you asked about, and we use them for that one message. Not the address you typed to get there: the two are never stored together.

When to contact the city instead

For a missed collection, a damaged or extra cart, a bulk booking, or anything that needs someone to act, contact your city. We can tell you the day. Only they can send a truck.
